What the hell do I do with the weird red nook in the
living room wall?

Plant that will cascade. A creeping philodendron or something?

A place for a megalomaniacal cat to survey his/her kingdom.

Hmm. A plant, now that's an idea. My mom suggested putting some weird vase up there, but all my stuff like that is smallish and purple.
No cats. I dislike them and my dog hates them even more...

Diorama!

Hmm, Dave. Maybe.
Oh, and about plants. That would require a ladder for watering them - bottom of hole is at around 9 feet or so. Probably too much work.

A lava lamp.
A small painting.
Or a rope ladder could be attached to water a plant if you placed one up there. A rope ladder would look cool. :) It would definately be a conversation piece.

Hmm. It's a conversation piece already, really. ;)
I'll figure something out for it, I think. Might leave the plants to the balcony where the rain can water them. I have one piece of coordinating artwork which is going somewhere on that wall, as well.
One idea is a japanese lucky cat, it'd go well with the red. (One of the problems with this, is most of my vases and stuff are in purples, not reds.)

Put a picture of a trapped man inside. Add appropriate lighting. Sound sensor below to trigger recorded screams for help when someone gets too close. Cover with plastic sheet.
